Five South Minneapolis homeowners facing foreclosure are refusing to move out, and they are organizing their community into a “Foreclosure and Eviction Free Zone.” Gayle Lindsey, a member of the Central community for the past 30 years, faces eviction. Stopping her eviction is the first step toward achieving a victory for dozens of families in a similar situation.

A neighborhood assembly emergency meeting, organized by Occupy Homes MN, will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, from 2 until 3:30 p.m. at Green Central Park Community Gym, 3416 4th Ave. S.

ALERT: Stop the Auction of Alberto Del Rio’s Home! (Occupy Bernal)

Alberto Del Rio is a Bernal Heights resident who grew up in his family home. He lives there with his wife and 3 kids. To help his mother have a decent retirement, the Del Rio family took equity out of the home and refinanced… The bank has continually lost his paperwork, and refused to negotiate in good faith. The bank even advised him to stop making payments in order to qualify for a loan modification, which triggered the foreclosure process… Now, Wells Fargo is scheduled to auction his home on January 31. But we won’t let them.
