We are Occupy Oakland Foreclosure Defense Group. We defend homeowners against foreclosure. We don’t do it for money. We do it because an injury to one is an injury to all, and because the banks should not be able to get away with theft.

Movie Night at #defendjodie
Thursday, May 16, 2013
8:00pm until 10:30pm
#DefendJodie, 1624 Foley Street, Alameda
Hey it’s warm out and it’s been a while, so we’re pulling together another one of our fabulous DIY Drive-In movie nights for this week.
Join us this Thursday as we screen Network – you remember, the famous source of the mantra “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore!” Well, this Oscar-winning film has a lot more in store than just that one line, and remains fresh for today with its stark truth-telling about the profit motives of the corporate media, and the pacification of the public with mindless infotainment.
Written by Paddy Chayevsky, directed by Sydney Lumet, and featuring a power-packed cast including Faye Dunaway, William Holden, Peter FInch, Robert Duvall, and Ned Beatty.
Come check it out! Treats will be provided.
This film is rated R for strong language, some sexual content, and a scene of violence.

We are defending Jodie Randolph against illegal eviction.
Diary of this fight.
(Also, Day 100 fight summary.)
We are standing with Jodie and will not let the bank take her home and her possessions. If you are in the area and want to participate in the eviction defense, please email foreclosure@occupyoakland.org, and subscribe to our text message alerts by texting “ooforeclosure” to 69302.
Home Defenders’ Barbecue Report
The skies were cloudy, the temperature was perfect, and on Day 118 of the defense of Jodie Randolph’s home, many of the home defenders gathered to pat ourselves on the back, eat good food, and catch up with each other. The first batch of our stylin’ t-shirts was distributed to volunteers.

You can see some of the shirts (clenched fist under a roof) in this picture.
Jodie is deep in negotiation with Morgan Stanley and we’ve got her back! We’re looking forward to a victory party not too long from now.

On March 8, we held our second training on foreclosure, gentrification, and displacement. The trainings are designed to provide the tools that we and our allies need to do this work.
